I gathered around me the best French cabinetmakers, artistic bronze-makers and goldsmiths to help me create my luxury and ultra-luxury furniture, while at the same time pursuing my ongoing work on metals. I became particularly interested in exploring the different ways of treating my raw materials, be they precious woods or metal: for example, using an overlay of sawn palm-tree veneer or treating the surface of different steel with black chrome. At the same time, I created a major piece of artwork composed of highly precious materials, namely the YES Collection. Every part of the work is stamped with excellence, with use of the rare wood ziricote, shagreen skin overlays, and gold-plated brass for the legs. The desk-top incorporates a plaque of gold marquetry set with 1,000 diamonds, representing a fingerprint. The piece was exhibited at a collective exhibition, “The French Craft Art Exhibition” in Abu Dhabi in May 2009. Another exhibition held in Paris, at the “Coste La Société” cafe in Saint Germain des Prés. Special commission by the artist Rodolphe von Gombergh, for the presentation of his centerpiece work: the creation of a so-called “four-poster bed”. |
