The desk-top is made of multiplex birch overlaid with a 15 mm thick veneer of sawn ebony from the Congo, creating a solid, rustic effect. The desk-top also includes a drawer and a desk blotter. The desk blotter is overlaid with the black-tinted skin of farmed crocodiles; the legs are made of brass, electroplated with fine yellow gold or with pink gold on request. The marquetry represents a star of 13 cm diameter, composed of a base made of 24-carat white gold (or pink gold on request) which is invisibly set with 750 rubies.
