It was his encounter with Jean Michel Basquiat, who introduced him to Contemporary Art, which triggered Olivier Garcia’s bulimic creative activity. A self-taught designer, Olivier Garcia loves exploring the limits of different materials, so as to lead them to assume new ideas and shapes. With 15 years of creative activity under his belt, he now offers us his wish to invert the normal use to which materials are generally put.

The “Formula One” range was born of a simple idea: that of working with one of the materials used in car manufacture so as to integrate it into our interior designs. Through different types of functional furniture with pure, soft, geometrical lines, Olivier Garcia here uses industrial lacquers to cover his creations with seven successive coats of laquer. Desk, coffee table, side table, rest-couch or lamps offer enough diversity to suit everyone’s taste. The colours used for the range are also surprising: red, yellow, blue, green, grey or ivory. The colours are set off by an inlaid segment of pure ebony, as a passing tribute to Modern Art. You can choose your colour and your model as you wish, with the series being limited to twelve specimens for each type of furniture.

Director’s desk
| The "Formula One" series is limited to twelve specimens in each of six colours symbolizing legendary cars, namely: “Ferrari Red” or “Ferrari Yellow” “Mercedes Metallic Grey” “Bugatti Blue” “Bentley Black” “Delahaye Ivory White” The purchaser may also choose an exclusive series in the colour of his choice. Each piece is signed and numbered. |

| The desktop measures 2 m x 85 cm x 5 cm thick. It is covered with an industrial lacquer which requires 12 coats and 2 month’s work, given that the different coats of lacquer are dried at different temperatures so as to obtain an outstanding end result. The desk blotter is a marquetry of sawn Madagascar ebony veneer. The drawer is situated below the desk blotter, within the thickness of the desktop. The legs can be made from different metals: black oxidized steel or polished or sanded stainless steel. They give a height of 75 cm. |
Available in 8 colours which are those of racing car stables; there is a choice between two shades of “Ferrari red”. The range of desks is made of wood covered with eight successive coats of oven-dried polyurethane lacquer, requiring 1 ½ months of work. The desktops are set off by segments of ebony; the bases (legs) are made of waxed, tinted steel. |
